Most physicians have the capability to run their practice well. Only a handful can give 100 percent to their patients and give 100 percent also to their community. Dr. Jennifer Walden has the talent and personal motivation to do what many cannot.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Dr. Walden also attended the prestigious University of Texas for her education. She works in Austin because of the opportunity it has for female-owned businesses, the community diversity she desires, and overall quality of life.
She creates an atmosphere in her practice where strong women help support other strong women. In a field where 92 percent of her patients are women, she strongly felt the need to have a female present that can possibly understand more in a field dominated by men. The environment Dr. Walden strives to give her patients is both relaxing and supportive. She wants her patients to not just undergo surgery, but to know what entails with each procedure how life could change. Some moments a patient may want surgery, but the results of the surgery are not worth the risk. Dr. Walden will definitely discuss other options, however, a patient safety is always number one so she will gladly decline.
Giving back is in the blood of Dr. Walden. She helped raise the second most money for the Austin Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. She was second behind Amanda Bush, in honor of Barbara Bush, who raised the most money ever for the Society. Dr. Walden also supports organizations such as Austin’s Center for Child Protection and Junior League of Austins Food in Tummies (FIT) Program. For children that meet the requirements for free or reduced meals, the FIT program assists in meeting these kids needs.
With continued success in medicine and the community, she still puts first things first. Dr. Walden is truly a family woman. As her boys grow and are getting more involved in school activities, she is right there with them. Often times opportunities arise for going out with friends or travel. She will gladly decline to spend that quality time with her sons.
