The Evolution of Dr. Mark McKenna to Medical Aesthetic

Dr. Mark McKenna is a graduate of the Tulane University Medical School and hails from New Orleans. Apart from being a medical doctor, McKenna is also licensed by the Georgia and Florida State Board of Medical Examiners to perform surgeries. After graduating from the University, McKenna started practicing medicine with his father and also ventured into real estate where he founded the McKenna Venture Investment which deals mainly in the development of boutiques. He later expanded his interest in real estate when he launched Universal Mortgage Lending and Uptown Inc. The two companies have grown immensely to have over 50 employees working in them.

McKenna’s path has, however, not been an easy road as most of his businesses were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina which hit the city of New Orleans. Dr. McKenna eventually moved to Atlanta Georgia ShapeMed which he also later sold to Lifetime Fitness Inc. In 2017, McKenna founded the OVME where he is also the CEO. OVME is a consumer facing, technology enabled, medical aesthetic company that has revolutionized elective healthcare.

Dr.McKenna said in the interview that the idea of OVME came from his work in the medical cosmetic sector for over a decade. Dr. McKenna had served as the National Director of Life Time Fitness Inc. From the time he got to Atlanta to the time that he started his company, Mark states that he noticed many opportunities that he could venture in during this period.

Dr. McKenna is married to Gianine McKenna with whom they are blessed with two daughters. The humble doctor says that his day starts with getting his daughters out of bed and making them breakfast. This tells how much family means to him. He is also involved in a little sport, Jiu Jitsu, which helps him keep fit every day.

McKenna is not a fan of smoking and is excited by the reduction in the number of smokers in America. After Hurricane Katrina, Mark was heavily involved in relief efforts to rebuild the city of New Orleans. He currently serves as a member of the Entrepreneurs organization and also previously served on the New Orleans Industrial Development Board.
